At Santa Clarita Hearing Center, we encourage anyone experiencing hearing loss or hearing changes to schedule an appointment.
If you have never visited a hearing center, Santa Clarita Hearing Center is an excellent first choice. You can expect a smooth and simple process while they conduct a hearing exam. The staff focus on treating your symptoms efficiently. They will begin by performing hearing evaluations to diagnose you. Loss of hearing has a variety of solutions and treatment options.
When someone comes in for a hearing exam, the first thing we check for is a buildup of earwax. A buildup of earwax can feel exactly like hearing loss. If there is an excessive amount of earwax, our doctors will drain it for you. The hearing issue should immediately go away and improve. You should also feel relief inside of your ears from removing the ear wax. If the hearing issue does not subside, we will move to a hearing test.
A hearing evaluation will take anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes. You can expect:
-
Air conduction and bone conduction testing
-
Speech testing
-
Distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) testing
-
Auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing
-
Tympanometry or acoustic immittance testing
After the hearing exam takes place, we will discuss your options. One of these options is wearing a hearing aid. Hearing aids are not embarrassing and should be worn proudly. Wearing a hearing aid will improve your hearing ability and balance. If you are encouraged to purchase a hearing aid, you can ease into the process. You can start off by only wearing your hearing aid a certain amount of time a day to get used to it. Over time, you can begin to wear the hearing aid throughout your day.
